Just stuff...

I know I have been terribly remiss in posting, but things have just gotten so busy! Go figure. Hopefully some time today I can post new pcitures.

Anyway, Paige is growing like a weed and is talking up a storm. It's so neat how quickly she learns new things and new words. For whatever reason, she is really into Winnie the Pooh right now. Most days she doesn't even want to come out of her room; she just wants to sit on her bed and hold her Pooh and watch her Pooh movies. Weird!

We have had her trundle bed set up for some time now. She did great with the transition, even from the first night. We are still waiting for the matching coverlet to come in so the top bed has Sarah's old quilt on it, but it still makes a great place for Paige and her daddy to watch movies and snuggle. Paige sleeps on the trundle. She loves her bed, and the room is so much bigger without the full bed.

Sarah is doing great. She will be 14 on the 31st! Grandma is taking her to Disney World for her birthday. She is so excited. Tom just took her skiing last weekend again this year, and as usual they had a blast. Maybe next year I can go!! In mid-July we are going back to Kings Dominion for our annual KingsFest trip - 3 days of rides, junk food, and Christian music concerts!!! Woo-hoo. Sarah is bringing her friend Kristin this year so she has someone to hang out with. I hope I can go this year, but that largely depends on Eli and when he comes, etc.

On that note, hopefully he will be here soon. I am 35 weeks today. The house is MOSTLY ready - haha. We are really excited and can't wait to get him home. Still looking for that middle name, though, so don't be shy with your suggestions...

The slowly disappearing home

As much as I try to ignore it, my home is slowly disappearing.  We are two weeks out now from leaving Virginia.  The pictures are off the walls, we are sleeping on the floor, and someone just drove away with our second to last sofa.  Suitcases are packed and crowded into the corner waiting to be loaded into a rental van.  I am trying to find homes for half-used laundry soap and Panko bread crumbs because I can't stand waste and throwing it away bothers me.  Half of me is so sad to leave and half of me is excited to arrive in Ecuador. My shoulders ache from lifting suitcases to test the weight (and maybe a little from anxiety).  I fear I will forget a million things, but I'm trying my best to remember them all. Time with family has been ramped up a bit; we just celebrated my parent's 50th wedding anniversary a few days ago with both of my brothers and their families.  I think I have seen family more in the last month than in the last year combined....

Slow going

So this has been our experience so far with having the house on the market....note the lack of a SOLD sticker, or even UNDER CONTRACT. We were thinking it would go quickly based on what the listing agent (a fantastic, God-loving, Sister-in-Christ we knew from when Tom was pastoring at Community Church) told us and the market right now. We had a call for a showing the morning after it went on the market, which was encouraging, and the couple loved it but not the neighborhood so much. That is tough to hear because we know how blessed we have been to live in this neighborhood for 15 years. Yes, it is a mix of VERY old and new, some not in such good shape, but the people are fantastic.  It is what I will miss the most.  Standing in the street talking to my neighbors in the spring and summer while a motley crew of kids rides/runs/scooters/crawls around us all. Community appreciation day at the church with free food, bonfires, sweets, bounce houses, car shows, music, etc.  ...

Things are moving right along. Wish it were warmer so the kids could go outside. Last week, we had a couple of nice days so i did get to take them to the park for an hour or so one day. But i really miss nice warm days, working in the yard while the kids play. Eli now has 6 teeth and 2 more coming in. He is crawling all over the place and getting into everything. Disgustingly, one of his favorite things to play with is Paige's potty. He is eating table food now and growing like crazy. He was over 21 pounds at his 9 month checkup. Paige is doing great. She's extremely talkative and precocious. Not entirely potty-trained yet, but doing great. She is only wearing Pull-Ups for naps and outings, and of course a diaper at night. She has had the occasional accident, but mostly is very aware and gets to the potty on time. She has storytime at the library on Mondays again, and this time i signed her up to go in without me.
