One step closer...
So today this happened...
It's kind of a big thing, right? Got a lump in my throat when I saw them lying innocently in my mailbox. The kids didn't care that much when we showed them, hardly gave them a glance. For me, it was a stark reminder that we are very quickly approaching D-Day (for departure!).
There is still so much to do and so much to plan my brain hurts from trying to figure it out. I'm constantly concerned that whatever decision I make might be the wrong one and I feel myself settling in to just not make a decision. Do we sell everything and start over there, or ship a container? What's the cheapest way to do that? Do we do a lot of the legwork ourselves, or hire a full service company to handle everything? How do we find a reputable company? What kind of documents do we need for customs? Do they need to be apostilled too? When do we apply for a visa? And holy cow - the hoops you have to jump through for this process. Hiring an attorney in Ecuador to handle this for us would be the easiest and safest, but it's VERY expensive. My head swims when I think of it, and my anxiety gets the best of me.
I'm trying to take one day at a time and gather as much info as I can first so we only have to drive to DC one time and will have all the paperwork in order, but I'm not convinced that will happen. Oh well, at least if not we can turn it into a mini-vacay and take the kids to the zoo again and the Smithsonian and maybe squeeze in a family reunion with the NOVA fam. For now, I'm trying to cast my cares on Jesus...
